Accomplished

Feeling very good about myself today. First, a little back story. I went to the promotion board last Monday, and bombed it. Luckily, they were nice enough to just let me go back in December. So, because of how I did at the mock board, I was told that I would be the alternate for the NCO of the Month board. Turns out, I would in fact have to go.. That day was today. Im not gonna lie, I was still really nervous. So much so, that while I knew the NCO Creed almost perfectly last week, I kept stumbling on my words today. I think that part of it might have been the fact that my NCOIC ended up having to supervise me. Well long story short, I ended up winning. So what does that mean, well not much in the grand scheme of it all. Pretty much the recognition. Plus know I know that come next month, I will be good to go for the Promotion Board, and finally have that last step done to get promoted to Staff Sergeant

Coming out out of the Broom Closet More

So in my attempt to be more open with my spirituality, I am considering making a couple of videos to post on You Tube. Lately, I have gotten the bug to create a "travel" book of shadows, that has quickly taken on a mind of its own. Once I get to start working on it, it is hard to stop. I really like the way it is going and the shape that it has taken. Due to this, I have been watching videos of other peoples on You Tube, and was thinking about starting with a video on my altar and my "witchy" things that I have collected, and how my profession plays into my beliefs. In doing these videos, I would do a seperate on on just my books of shadows. Just showing kind of what I started with, and what my binders have become, and what I have now in my to smaller books. I am also looking at getting another small journal similar to what I am currently working on to use just for my Tarot. Include a page for each card, as well as spreads, and actual readings that I perform. Like I said, things are taking on a mind of there own and demanding my attention... Like other things in my life.
Thursday I will be going to the NCO of the Month board to prepare to go to the promotion board (again) in December. So having to find time to study for that, keep up with my classes (dont ask how thats going), as well as making sure mission gets done at work. Oh yeah, we are down to only three people in the section this week, so short staffed, big mission to accomplish, and I am essentially off the road for 2 days, not counting today. Oh yeah a PT test on Wednesday and its gonna be F-ing cold out. It was 34 degrees this morning when they were taking it. Hopefully it will be just a few degrees warmer, but I doubt it. Busy, Busy Busy as always.

Blessed Be!

Busy times ahead

So things are slowly starting to get busier. I officially got the NCOIC position at work, which means more responsibility but less pay... for now. I will be going to the promotion board on the 7th of November. I am trying to get promoted in December so I need to have all the points I can by then. That means working mindlessly on coorespondence courses. I was almost maxed out, until they decided to change the points system again.

Moving Up

So things are really starting to get crazy around here. My third class has started, I'm trying to keep up with the first two, and I have to get ready for the promotion board on the 7th of November. Also, along with everything else, I have not officially been given the NCOIC position at work, I pretty much have the job, which means more responsibility, and more to have to worry about. Of course, I don't mind, its all for the better. While I am really hoping to make points before the beginning of the year, I'm not sure if that will be possible. While I am doing everything I can to help, I'm not sure how many of my classes will count, so I don know how many points I actually have. Guess I will just have to keep an eye on the points for this month, and get a feel for what the trend will be for the next couple of months. Then to make things even harder, they are changing the point system again, so all the work I am doing on correspondence courses may not matter any more in January. Guess that means I better get on getting into more actual classes to get the points that I need. Wish me luck.

Be in Charge

OK, so I have to get this off of my chest. If you are gonna be in charge.. BE IN CHARGE. Lets say that you are in charge, and will be gone for some reason, and someone will be filling in for you. DO NOT tell this person to do something, that you yourself do not do. I am in this situation myself. I will be in charge of my section starting on Thursday when my NCOIC is on leave. He has made it perfectly clear on numerous occasions, that when I am NCOIC, that it is expected that I will still go out on mission. I have not issue with that. What I have an issue with, is the fact that he doesn't "practice what he preaches." It is almost the end of the month, and mission is still not finished. He has done a grand total of 3 inspections this whole month. And to top it off, we tried to get him to go to 1 site today, and he said he will do it on Wednesday. All I can say is that he better.... OK enough of my bitching. I feel better now!

Been a while.

I know, I know.. its been a while, but things have gotten really busy lately. I finally got enrolled in school hopefully for the last time to finally get my Bachelors. I am going to Eastern Illinois University with my major being General Studies. I know, I know cant do much with that degree, but at this point, its just time that I get the damn thing. When I finally retire, I can always go back and get my Teaching Certifications.
Along with having to get school work done, I just graduated from WLC on Friday. That was a long 19 days, but worth it. That means that I can finally go to the board for E-6. While it seemed like it was a long time, it was actually nice to get back to the basics of being a Soldier again.
And to top it off, I just realized that Alex's birthday is in a month. Hard to believe that he is going to be 4! Where has the time gone. I still remember when all he did was sleep, and now it takes all our power to get him to go to sleep.
Also working on possibly getting some things for the equinox coming up in a couple of days. If not for that then for Samhein which again is next month.
As always, seems like there is so much to do, and not enough time to do it. Oh well, such is the life of being a grown up LOL

Why?

Why do I do this, and why am I here on the online community. I feel like I have come to a point in my life where I am ready and able to help others in some way. Wether it is someone looking for the "right" spiritual path for them, some things that are going on in their life, or a fellow Soldier who is having some problems. I am in no way claiming that I have all the answers, but what I do have is knowledge from lessons that I have learned in my life, and things that I have been through. I feel that we all have things to contribute, but we have to realize when the time is right, and for me the time is now.
